Rand Paul Introduces “Write the Laws” in the Senate

Rand Paul Introduces “Write the Laws” in the Senate
By Jim Babka

More ground-breaking news!

We reported on on Monday that Rand Paul had introduced the “One Subject at a Time Act” in the Senate! Well . . .

He's introduced our “Write the Laws” bill too!

This is the first time this bill has been introduced in either chamber of Congress!

Remember . . .

“Write the Laws” would prohibit un-elected bureaucrats in the Executive Branch from writing rules that you have to obey. Every rule imposed on you could only be written and enacted by Congress, the legislative branch.

Let's . . .

  • Thank Rand Paul for introducing this legislation!
  • Ask your Senators to become co-sponsors
  • Ask your House Rep. to introduce the bill in that chamber.

Do this . . .

  • Go to Rand Paul’s Facebook page and leave a comment thanking him for introducing DownsizeDC.org's “Write the Laws Act” in the Senate. You can leave this comment on any of his current posts. http://www.facebook.com/SenatorRandPaul
  • Call his office and say thank you to the staffer who answers. 202-224-4343

Then do this . . .

Use our Educate the Powerful System to ask your supposed representatives to also sponsor “Write the Laws.”

The hardwired letter to Congress for that campaign reads . . .

Rand Paul has introduced the “Write the Laws Act” (S. 3361) in the Senate. Please co-sponsor this bill.

Following is the letter I sent to Congress. You can copy or edit it for your personal comments . . .

You have no constitutional authority to delegate your legislative power to Executive Branch bureaucrats.

The Constitution, which you swore an oath to uphold, reserves the power to make rules to Congress. That power is forbidden to the Executive Branch.

There's a word we use for people who break the law. We call them criminals. So you will understand that I consider all rules imposed on me by the Executive Branch to be criminal acts.

And I consider you to be guilty of criminal negligence for allowing this to happen.

I DENY MY CONSENT for you to continue in this fashion.

Please show me that you reject such criminality.

I want my Senators to co-sponsor DownsizeDC.org's “Write the Laws Act,” which Rand Paul has introduced in the Senate.

And I want my House Rep. to introduce the bill in that chamber.

Please recognize that you're losing the consent of the American people, and that without that consent you have no legitimacy. Please reverse your course, or it will become necessary to alter or abolish you.

You can send your letter to Congress here: https://secure.downsizedc.org/etp/write-the-laws/

You will notice that I'm moving forward with the Deny Consent strategy. But the approach reflected in my letter is just a first step. We're going to add details and new software to expand the power of this strategy. Stay tuned!

Next . . .

On Monday, we sent a press release about the “One Subject at a Time Act.” It received thousands of web views. And yesterday, I did a radio interview. Another is scheduled for tomorrow.

Today, we want to send another press release promoting what Senator Paul has done. Can you contribute to help us send releases to as many media outlets as possible? You can make your contribution here.

Are we earning your support?
